Budget beauty

I ran out of eye make-up remover a couple of nights ago and decided to do some exploring on the internet to see if there were any natural home-made solutions out there. I found several recommendations for Johnson's baby shampoo mixed with water. Since the baby shampoo is "no tears" it doesn't sting your eyes like traditional remover does and since it's gentle enough for a baby, it's good for your skin. Yesterday I purchased a 15 fl. oz. bottle of Target brand baby shampoo for $1.14. Compare that to the $5.99 I paid for 4 fl. oz. of Loreal eye make-up remover and you can already see how much I've saved! The Loreal remover only lasts about a month and I can definitely see the baby shampoo lasting up to a year.

I was a bit skeptical about putting shampoo on my eyelids, but I was amazed at how well it worked! It didn't take as long to get all the make-up off and my lashes felt nice and soft when I woke up this morning.

To make it, you mix 1 part baby shampoo with 11 parts water. Shake well and voila! I keep it in a small plastic bottle that I got at Target (99 cents in the travel size aisle) and just use a dab on a cotton ball.
