About a week ago I purchased a bag of Welch's fruit snacks from the vending machine at work. Because it was in a vending machine I couldn't see the 2.25 oz. marking but I figured that since it was a pretty big bag it was worth the $1.25 price tag. Well, when I got the bag I was shocked to see how much product I actually got! There were only a few fruit snacks in the bottom of the bag.
I went home that night and emailed Welch's and explained that I felt like it was deceiving to put so few fruit snacks in such a large bag. I suggested that they use smaller packaging. I offered to send my uneaten bag back to them in exchange for my money back. In about 24 hours I received an email back apologizing for my experience and to look for a letter in my mailbox.
This afternoon I received a letter explaining that the fruit snacks I had purchased are packaged by a lessee that is not owned or operated by Welch's. They were forwarding my concern and suggestions to the quality assurance department, and again apologized for my experience. Along with the letter they sent a coupon for a free box of fruit snacks (approx. value $4) and two .$50 cent off coupons for Welch's juice products!
Needless to say I am pleased with the results and will be willing to continue to give my business to Welch's. I appreciate a company that is interested in keeping me as a customer after I have had a negative experience.
