Well, we spent Saturday night in the hospital thanks to hyperemesis (severe vomiting in pregnant women). I had not been keeping food or fluid down for about three days so my sister drove me to the E.R. I thought I had a panic attack at work, but the doctor said that it was caused by the dehydration. He said when you are that dehydrated your body goes into "fight or flight" and what I experienced was an adrenaline rush. Basically my body was trying to tell me something was wrong.
So we settled into a nice private room-room 8 which I knew was a good sign because it's my favorite number- and got started on some fluids. They gave me Zofran which is an anti-nausea medication and some general fluids for hydration. The hospital was nice and we had a flat screen TV so we watched Cars, CNN and a couple episodes of C.O.P.S.
The doc sent me home with a prescription for Zofran which has been a life saver. I don't know how I made it this long without it. I take it every 6 hours and stick it under my tongue and let it dissolve.
I cannot say enough about how nice the nurses at St. Jude were. The first nurse couldn't get the IV in my arm and was so sweet talking me through the pain (more uncomfortableness than pain) and making sure I was okay. She finally had to get the IV specialist who got it in super quick. All the nurses were so so wonderful and kind. They really made the experience so much better.
We're home now and resting, drinking lots of fluids and just trying to grow Baby Woodman!
