Last night my friend Alisa and I went to see New Kids on the Block at the Staples Center in L.A. I saw them for the first time in 1989 so it was SO fun to get to go to the reunion concert! The tickets were a gift from Jeff for making it through the marathon. He got us AMAZING seats!
They sang a few hits from their new album but mostly did their old stuff. Seeing them in concert again made me feel young and old all at the same time! There were a few odd moments where I wondered if they really had enough material to put on a full concert. In the end, they did NOT disappoint.
Being in the Staples Center with thousands of other people waving our arms in the air singing along to "Hangin Tough" was one of the best feelings I've had in awhile. Of course we had to sing all our old favorites at the top of our lungs. At several points during the concert I got goosebumps because I thought about when I saw them the first time 19 years ago. I have always remembered that concert as one of the best things I've gotten to experience so seeing their comeback tour was almost like a dream come true for the second time.
They may be getting older, but they definitely still have "the right stuff" (oh-oh-ooh-oh).
P.S. I totally bought a t-shirt that says "Property of Joey McIntyre"!! Jeff's not too sure he likes it though!
