Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!

For those of you that don't know what Wait Wait..Don't Tell Me! is, you can learn about it here. It is basically a news quiz show with a host and three panelists who answer questions based on current events. Typical panelists include comedians Mo Roca, Paula Poundstone and Tom Bodett. The show is hosted by Peter Sagal and features announcer/scorekeeper Carl Kassell. It's hilarious and I think everyone should tune in to 89.3 KPCC every Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. to catch the show!

It has always been a dream for Jeff and me to be able to go to Chicago for a weekend to see the show taped. Our dream came true (well, kind of...) when the show came to L.A. to tape a pilot for television! The show had two tapings at the Wilshire Theatre in Beverly Hills.

Walking into the theatre and seeing the set gave me goosebumps. Here I was seeing some of my favorite radio personalities, and hoping that the show wouldn't be too different than the radio version. The set looked pretty much exactly like the radio set-up, just a little more colorful. I was NOT disappointed at all! They had three viewer contestants like normal and they had a celebrity on-set to play "not my job" where they are asked three questions about a subject that they know nothing about. Usually the winning listener gets a voicemail message recorded by Carl Kassell, but the winning viewers were told they were getting a Carl Kassell calendar. I think it was just a joke.

The panelists were Tracy Ullman, Mo Rocca and TOM BODETT!! Yes, that would be Tom Bodett from the Motel 6 commercials (you know..."we'll leave a light on for you"?). He's actually a pretty funny guy. The above photos are the set, Carl Kassell and Peter Sagal (the host).

I am so excited that we were able to go and fulfill one of our dreams!
