35 days to go until Jack's arrival!
I picked up the neatest book today. If you are an expectant mom and a Dr. Seuss fan- you MUST get one! It's called Oh, Baby The Places You'll Go! It is a really cool version of Oh, the Places You'll Go! It talks about several different Dr. Seuss books- kind of a mini introduction which is fun if you're planning on reading your kids Dr. Seuss- which we are! It's meant to be read to baby while in utero.
In the introduction, Audrey Geisel writes about how she and Theodore read an article about how babies who were read a particular book, Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat, in utero had increased activity- which continued after delivery. The babies apparently remembered hearing the story in utero. Apparently Theodore enjoyed his part in prenatal research so after his passing, his widow created this book for mothers-to-be to read to their babies.
My favorite part of the book is on the very last page, "the words I am saying, you hear in your heart, and know that I wish you the very best start."
We've been playing Jack "Baby Mine" from Dumbo and putting headphones on my belly because I read that when you play a certain song for the baby they recognize it after they're born and it calms them. Now we're going to start reading him books, too.
