Wow- only 7 weeks to go until Jack's arrival! I remember when I was only 7 weeks into this journey and now I only have 7 weeks to go...it seems so surreal! The time has just flown by. Jack's current favorite position is to lodge what I am assuming is a foot into my ribs. I am sure he is snug as a bug in a rug in there but OUCH! I wish he would find a different position.
I am still doing well physically- the belly is getting heavy, but I am getting used to the aches and pains- and I still haven't had any swelling or stretch marks [knock on wood]. My biggest complaint lately has been my back- I have always heard that back injuries stay with you for life and people are constantly in pain with them. Well, anyone with chronic back pain has my sympathies!
I finally talked to my OB about it because it's starting to interfere with my life. Back pain wakes me up at night and I can't sit or stand in one position for more than 15 minutes without being in excruciating pain. So she suggested I see a chiropractor. I have only been to one appointment so far- I saw him on Thursday and as of today (Monday morning) I am still pain free! I have never gone this long without back pain.
The chiro was quite an interesting experience. I was nervous but the doctor spent a lot of time just talking to us about chiropractic and pregnancy. Jeff and I both felt comfortable with him. He had me stand on the table and then lowered it so that I was lying face down- there was even a section that he could pull away to make room for my belly! He started by adjusting my back- it basically just felt like he was pushing really hard on my back and you could hear popping noises. Then he pulled my heels together and showed Jeff that one leg was slightly longer than the other. He then did an adjustment on my pelvis. I couldn't see what he was doing but it basically felt like he pounded on each side of my pelvis. It didn't hurt a bit. He then pulled my heels together again and showed Jeff how now my legs were the same length!
The unfortunate part is that I won't be going back to see him- I misunderstood my insurance benefits for chiropractic and he is covered under my PPO and not HMO. With our PPO we have a deductible so it would be entirely out of pocket for every visit. Luckily Jeff found a provider under our HMO which will be free for us. We were both so impressed that I'm going to make appointments for BOTH of us with the new chiro!
