So much to catch up on!
Our chunky monkey is growing like a weed and changing every day. He loves to "talk" and is enjoying finding the different volumes and pitches he has. Most mornings these days I wake up to a very happy baby babbling away in his crib =) He is starting to reach for toys and is enjoying hanging out on the floor. I usually put him on his play mat or a blanket with some toys and he's content for awhile. Everything goes in his mouth these days- his hands, his arms, my hands, Jeff's shirt, toys...if it's within reach, he grabs it and in the mouth it goes. This morning he discovered his feet and has been having fun trying to catch them!
We had been swaddling at night which helped us all get some sleep by keeping Jack from startling himself awake. About two weeks ago he started busting out of the swaddle multiple times a night and I would fight him back in. None of us were getting any sleep! I decided to try the Woombie which looked like a good idea- he could still move his arms around but not enough to startle himself. WRONG. He slept great until about 3 am when he had a total melt-down. So we went swaddle-free this past Tuesday night. I put him down in just a sleep sack and wouldn't you know- he slept just fine. He did his normal 12 hours with one quick feeding around 3am.
Speaking of melt-downs, Jack is still having at least one a day. I'm talking hysterical, red-faced inconsolable screaming. Poor guy- I really hope he grows out of this soon! He is also still battling reflux although the Zantac has been a lifesaver. I don't know what we would have done if we couldn't give him his meds. Gas is also still an issue for his poor tummy. We have a pretty good routine which helps him a lot: Mylicon after each feeding, Zantac 3X day and Gripe Water before bed. I also sometimes give the gripe water when he has his melt-downs.
We have Jack's 4 month(!!) appointment on May 26th and I am anxious to find out his weight/height!
