It ain't easy being green!

In an effort to simplify our lives, we took a look at the way we live and decided to make some lifestyle changes. We cut all meat (except seafood), processed, refined and some dairy foods out of our diets. We eat mostly natural, healthy foods and we feel great about it! We have found it easy to substitute raw sugar or blue agave sweetener (found at Trader Joe's) for refined sugar, rice milk for cow's milk and soy products for meat (boca burgers are the best!) among other things.

Another change we've made is looking at our carbon footprint. We've switched to reusable grocery bags and CFL light bulbs in most of our lights. We use re-usable dust rags, and have started making our own household cleaners. To help reduce our garbage waste- we recently started a kitchen compost!

Using compost in your yard improves soil structure, texture, and aeration and increases the soil's water-holding capacity. The best thing about kitchen compost is that it is free! When we have left-over food product (the parts of veggies we don't eat, coffee grounds, etc.) we stick them in a container in the kitchen to use later in the garden.

Doing what we can to help the environment makes us feel good about the Earth that we'll be bringing our (future) children into.

You've inspired us! For months Ryan and I have been talking about getting reusable grocery bags - today when we were doing our grocery shopping for the week, we decided to get some! We're starting to try to eat better too, less processed stuff and more greens and natural foods. It'll be a process for sure, but at least we're starting!
